I'm currently using Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 (Exchange 2003) for my household, but I'm willing to make the step to Open Source.
I think that the Bongo Project is an exellent Mail and Calendar Server. Perfect for home-use, but I also like to push email and the calendar to my phone Smiley

Push e-mail isn't beyond the realms of possibility.  The problem is that I don't feel that Bongo will have it built in. We should be able to use services like that of Funambol.

Certainly to begin with, I think Funambol etc. will be where it's at.

Personally, I have very little idea of how such setups will need to work - it probably needs someone with the relevant hardware and needs to work at it a little bit.
